I’ve been thinking about legacy lately and wondering what the long lasting impact of my life might be.
For many, having children is their legacy. Carrying on genetics, family names and family traditions. Others are artists or inventors who become famous and their work (music, books, movies etc.) lives on. However, even if you achieve one of these, it’s no guarantee you’ll be immortalized. Your children may disown you or die before you. Your art may be obscure and unappreciated. But at least you’ve taken a stab at it and hopefully had fun along the way.
What if, like me, you’re not famous and you don’t have children? I suppose the best legacy you could hope for is to live joyfully and kindly and that your small actions ripple out into the world, making it a better place.
